How many of you have killed a bird on opening day?

I did kill a turkey with my bow on the opening day of the 09 deer season.

Most of us in east TN have a distinct disadvantage with the date that the season opens. I have wished for split season dates for years. I know some of the guys in middle and west Tn would like to see it open at least a week earlier, and I would prefer a week later here.

Best opening day, one year my brother in law and I both got long beards. Opening day double! Over the years my hunting buddy and I have had good luck on opening day. Weather seems to be the biggest factor.

Last year on opening day I knocked one down (shot low) shortly after fly-down and then a couple hours later I killed one.

Year before last I killed one on opening day but it was at 11:45 before I did it.

I think that is the only two that I have killed on opening day.

Planning on adding number 3 Saturday.

I think I have 7 of the last 10 years and put my nephew on gobblers three of those years.Most of them if not all have been taken from the same ridge.

the good lord has shined on me the past few years.....i have connected the past 5 opening days and I am on an 8 year streak for opening weekend kills.
