How many trad guys are on here?

I had the biggest buck of the year come down the hill to the acorns instead of up the hill. Consequently he picked me off at 19yds. If I had my compound I'd have already been drawn and waiting when he passed behind an oak tree at eye level only to looked right at me. With my recurve I'm great at 15yds, at 19yds I need EVERYTHING to be right. He was mature and just eased out of my life without a chance of a shot from me.

I've been there. Most people will never know that struggle. But when you stick that big one there is nothing like it.

Me too, 2 years ago 2 nice 8s were about 20yds and broadside at times under a persimmon tree. I almost went ahead but didn't, that longbow possibly saved me a bunch of dragging and gutting! 😂

I got my dad's old bear tiger cat down the other day and started eyeballing it. May need to string it up and sling a few this season.

Here's mine….
Bamboo backed Hickory 48-50 lbs shooting a 32" shaft.

I haven't killed nothing but time with it so far…
But I plan too change that soon…😎

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎😎😎👍

I have several bows roughed out and in the drying stage…. An adult and a kids flat bow and an adult and kids long bow. I've also been wanting to make a shave horse for decades, and finally got to it to facilitate the bow making.

I went with a "Schnitzbank" style shave horse. I liked it because you don't need a separate chair, and it's more compact and versatile.

Howard Hill shot a straight bow but he said "I don't care what kind of bow you shoot, if you're shooting a bow I'm with you."
That's what I think, longbow, recurve, compound, I'm good with it.

Generally speaking, how far can you shoot a deer with a stick bow?
average distance of a kill shot was 17 yards at one time, i've read. no mention of how far off one was when wounded/lost. i've killed 3 that were less than 15 feet away, and had them closer but never got a shot...so many things can go wrong...
