if that's the only pic I've got i say 4.5yrs. With the OP buck the first looks 4.5 and second looks 3.5.
I always find trying to age deer from a pic to be a guess at best. Although there are common generalities, I've found that environmental conditions and genetics can make a deer look older or younger than the field judging criteria says he should be. Nothing beats having historical knowledge of the deer's age. Shy of that it always seems like a loosely educated guess.

If he looks like that and it only being September 30th I'd say he's a five and a half year old tank. Either that or he's really eating well.

I agree with all of the 3.5 guesstimates. Muscled up front shoulders paired with lean belly and longer appearing hind legs.
