Wife and I went out this afternoon and shot for awhile. I put a new sight on right after Christmas and this has been the first time to really see about getting it adjusted. I don't know if it is because I changed something, or I could be imagining that, but it seems like my bow is ALOT louder now.

What I'm wondering, how much will the sound affect me during hunting season. Is it better to have a quieter bow with a slower FPS, or a louder bow with a faster FPS? Is it personal choice, or is there actually something behind my thinking? If there is something I can do to quieten it, what would you advise? I've been told the first thing I should do is a string decelerator.

Setup:
PSE Stinger, 28" draw, 62#, Trophy Ridge Hitman 5 pin sight, APEX quiver (which I already take off to shoot because it is REALLY loud), NAP Quicktune rest, Limbsaver X coil stabilizer and string leaches...

I would rather have a quieter bow and lose a little speed. First if you haven't checked and make sure all your screws on everything are tight. Also, if the sight has a light check to make sure its tight. I had one one time and the light wouldn't stay tight and it would make a noise when I shot. I would get a string suppressor like you mentioned. I am not familiar with your rest but if it is a drop away that makes contact with the riser you need to put some felt stuff on the bow or get a drop pad.

Make sure the sight is mounted tight to the riser .Then check for cam timing , loose screws , etc. Quiet is better for hunting .

I added a string stop to my bow and it really got quite. Put some limbsavers on your limbs if you don't have them. Have your wife listen closely as you shoot to see if you can pinpoint the cause of the noise.

Make sure everything is tight on the bow.. it could be something simple. I use bowjax on my bow, at least I think thats the name of them. Put a STS on it and it will cut alot of the thud type sound down. It will also help about things coming loose because of vibration.

Quiet over Speed anyday

I shoot the stinger too. I love that bow. I put the round limb savers on, and it helped a ton. Also have your wife go about 30yds away when you shoot. It sounds alot louder wheen it's right next to your ear. I was shocked with what the limb savers did.

Ear plugs.........sorry I had to go there. Shoot without the quiver as you said, and try a string stop. I have an STS on my bow and it helps out a lot.

Get a STS for it. Cat whiskers also help alot.
It sounds like something may be loose on it though. I would double check all the screws. If you have a sight light check it. You would be suprised how much noise those things can make when they are loose.
I like a quiet bow for hunting. What does it matter how fast it gets there if they can't hear it coming?

Figured it out. Put a new sight on at New Years and didn't have all of the screws tightened all the way. Quiet as a whisper now. Thanks everyone and good opinions all the way around.
