Humbling end to the season for me

My reasoning is that I am blessed with plenty of time and hunt places where there are lots of birds. I view my tags like gold and just because I don't pull the trigger doesn't mean it wasn't a successful hunt. If a tag is being burned a bird has to at least gobble once to me. Just a weird internal rule and one that I enjoy

When I was in college, I had a buddy that was so proficient that he would only entertain women who were 9s+. I could appreciate and even envy his his standards, but I couldn't afford to be so picky myself. I think this is analogous. :D

I'm not sure about that and on the women I prefer 1's they're easy and appreciative

Gobblers in my area had hens the entire season. We are covered up in jakes so I assume many of the hens still running with gobblers are jennies that either didn't nest or abandoned their nests. Gobbling was good throughout the season on the roost. I tagged out and watched 4 others die but only half those played the game.

The jakes I saw were not territorial and didn't show any interest in breeding so I don't believe that impacted the hunting (unlike some years). The two-year-old gobblers and jakes grouped up with about 2 weeks of the season left. The gobblers that would blow the woods down gobbling didn't have trouble finding a hen.

Oddly enough, three of the gobblers we shot could not have weighed more than 15-16 lbs. I've never seen gobblers this small before. I swear one of them was a jake the day before he was killed.

On a positive note, seems the survival rate last year was above average so the hunting next year should be outstanding.
