Hurd!

Not sure what happened to my other post, but now there are rumblings that he is indeed injured and it is unlikely that he will play this week.

There are also conflicting reports as to whether he has or hasn't practiced.

Oh well, if he doesn't play it's not as big of a blow as losing our linebackers, as we have capable guys behind him.

We might never know..... If it was a head injury, they would of took his helmet away to make sure that he wouldn't of re-entered the field of play. He looked pretty good celebrating after the game for a lower extremity injury. Coaches protect their players most of the time even if it involves personal issues.

The sideline reporter mentioned during the game that Hurd was never examined by the trainers.

This one is weird. First it was benched because of the fumble then it was no couldnt be it because he was in and scored after that. Then it was he had a concussion. Nope, they would have taken his helment, unless they just missed it. He was in on UGA last kickoff and was celebrating at the end. Then Butch calls it a lower extremety injury. Then Monday according to Butch he is full go and will practice. Then as the week went on it turns out that he hadnt practiced and is now day to day and might not play.


Weird whatever is going on. I think Kamara and John Kelly will do just fine honestly if Hurd cant go. The biggest thing that will be missing if Hurd cant go is his pass pro. Will be a nice change of pace I think.

I agree.

While we will miss his pass protection, it might just force DeBord to get away from some of his base runs that everyone is waiting for, and be a little more unpredictable.

Yep. Hurd is the workhorse, no doubt but Kamara can be dangerous and I think Kelly will be great here.

Hearing he got hurt on Punt protection... Why was he in on that SP play? Didn't think he played on punt coverage?

Butch's reluctance to reveal the problem leads me to believe Hurd has another shoulder injury.

According to Jalen's uncle it's a concussion. Hopefully Butch will let us know the truth today or tomorrow.

Dont think Hurd got injured on the PR. Butch said that they had been practicing that particular PR formation for three years and never had the situation to use it until then. They had Hurd and Kamara I think up close to have two good running ball handlers for the possible short kick.


My opinion is it was either the hit on the TD fumble or the one where he came up with grass in his facemask. They figured that he is a pretty tough kid and just got shook up a little and didnt take his helment, just sat him out for a while to regain his bearings. Butch has been cryptic ever since about it because he ended up actually having a concussion and they didnt exactly follow protocol on it. JMO

I'm probably in the minority but IMO our offensive line can't open enough holes for a North South power runner. I actually like Kamara as a quicker back going to the outside. When our O Line blocks, Hurd is a beast inside but he just doesn't get to the outside like Kamara.

I agree on Kamara, and Kelly is a good back also, but the trouble will be Hurd's pass protection. He is very valuable in that aspect.

I agree with the above. With a questionable line, speed and ability to change direction wins over power. Hurd will be a solid NFL back behind a solid line, but at TN, he will stand out, but not as much as he could behind a stronger line. Too much first contact behind line of scrimmage for him to really get going.
