MAN wasn't coming back today so I decided not to go to Reelfoot for the first time by myself.
Decided to go to Martin and fish the little lake there.
I have had luck there in the past but the fish there seem to be on a light switch. They will bite good then just turn off, or never turn on at times.
Anyway I went and just carried one bottle of water with me because I knew I would only fish about an hour anyway.
It is probably a half mile walk to where I wanted to fish from where you park.
I got over there and started hammering them.
I caught 15 in 30 minutes.
All good 8-9" bream that were THICK.
Also one 2# channel cat.
It was hot, very hot and there is NO shade anywhere out there.
All of a sudden I got too hot and I left my one bottle of water in the truck.
Catching fish on every cast and I have to leave because I didn't bring any water in almost 100 degree weather.
Yep, I am an idiot.
I went from just hot to my hands shaking so bad I couldn't hardly bait the hook in a matter of seconds.
Kinda scared me.
I loaded up and made the trek to the truck.
Water was warm but it got me good enough I could head home and stop at the store and get me something cold.
Hated to leave biting fish but what they say, discretion is the better part of valor?
