Well, he ain't much, but I don't think I'm going to get to go anymore and beggars can't be choosers.
I never heard the first bird gobble this morning and it was raining constantly. I started to call it a day early so I could go ahead and get home and get ready for church. On my way out I decided to stop and try one more spot. I drove down to the turnaround and saw four jakes crossing the bulldozer trail where they just burned. I decided to watch them walk on by and go somewhere else. I went to the other spot and saw nothing but mosquito's by the thousands and by the time I got back to the truck I decided that one of those jakes might just have to take a ride. I went back to where I saw them last jumped out of the truck, put the sneak on for about two hundred yards, picked out the biggest of the four and pow. I wouldn't have shot one if it wasn't my last day to hunt and my first bird of the season.
The first picture is a scan from a polaroid. That's all my granny had at her house.
The second one is at my house with our camera. I couldn't get the pregnant wife out of bed to take my picture....Scared to try.
