I'll bet my dad bought a bunch from her over the years. It might have been her or another woman around Memphis but we had been buying them for ourselves and then I decided to sell them in my store. We ended up buying 30 dozen at a time anytime she could make them. Sold out every single time.
We've got a Does up here in Paducah. Family of the one in MS if I understand it correctly. Anyway I ate it for the first time last weekend and of course got the tamales. They were good, served with a bowl of chili.
One day I'll make the trek down to the Delta and eat at the original and hunt ducks in that part of the world.
Never tried the delta tamales but they look awesome! I love authentic Mexican tamales. I just picked up 6 dozen from my Mexican friends mom. They are delicious! When I get that way I will be trying some of those delta tamales that you speak of.
Mrs White is recovering from cancer but she made a bunch of Hot Tamales before treatment. I was lucky enough to get 6 dozen today. 3 dozen for the freezer and 3 dozen for this weekend.
I made a bunch (I think it was 7 dozen) about 6 or 7 years ago. They turned out pretty good, but it was a LOT of work. I paid a $1.00 each for the ones I bought today and I think it is a bargain.
