We got my dad his third on Tuesday, and even though we still have birds we could play with, he decided that 3 is enough for him this year.

So, the past three mornings I have been having major withdrawals.

We still might be able to go tomorrow and try to get the older fella we have been hunting with in middle TN get one, but he may not want to go with he expected rain.

Oh well, time to get back to the real world!
 
I went hunting yesterday afternoon didn't see or hear anything. As I was walking back home I was already thinking how I was ready for next April.

Most hunters are mainly deer hunters and hunt turkeys as just a hobby. I am the other way around.

Same for me, I used to be a really passionate deer hunter/manager, but have basically lost interest in all of it. I still go some, and usually kill one or two big bucks each year. However, it is really just passing time and I find it to be boring and dumb most days even when seeing deer. I think all the years of slaughtering them with depredation tags pretty much ruined me and the excitement. Shooting 40 or so in one night can have that effect.

I absolutely love chasing turkeys, I basically take the entire season off from anything other than turkeys. It never gets old to me, and I don't see that changing.

Gimme Grouse and Turkeys, with a couple good dove hunts and I'm good. If I don't ever climb into another tree stand I'd be fine
 
I think I like deer ad turkey hunting the same, but it was turkeys in my backyard that first started my interest in hunting. I'm kind of sad the seasons already done (for me anyways) but considering how good it was and I killed them up till the end of April, I can't complain about much. Very happy with this years turkey season, but its always bittersweet when it is over. Spring and fall are my favorite seasons. But at least I got some fishing and blackberry picking to look forward to.

I would give up all of deer season for one more mid-April morning.

When I deer hunt I go just because I can. I will shoot a big buck, or any deer that looks tasty, but I would give up all of deer season for one more morning of turkey.

Setterman, I also enjoy dove shoots. I consider myself more of a "feather chaser" even though I do not duck hunt.
 
i just don't get excited over a bird. most times i wish i had gone fishing instead. spring is for fishing. fall is for hunting.

I used to love to duck and still would go, but the idiot factor is off the charts and I just can't take it anymore. There are more rube duck hunters than in all other hunting segments combined.

In fact 99% of all waterfowl hunters are giant posers and I might even be low balling the percentage.

Duck hunters, oh boy now you've opened up Pandora's box with me. :D

Everybody has their thing. Me its turkey.

I can believe the poser part for Duck Hunting. Duck Dynasty I believe has started the poser idiocy craze.

When I have attempted duck hunting, people probably thought I was just a poser, but you couldn't go anwhere without finding other guys already there.
 
I worked the entire season and will probably go bird less this year so i have been missing it already

They might be, but I doubt it.

I know plenty and their in the 99% for the most part, maybe a couple that are in the 1% .

They might be , but I doubt it

I know a bunch and most are in the 99%, there are a couple who would be in the 1%
 
I love hunting period a love deer hunting and I love turkey hunting. spring is my busy time as i own a mowing company and i also switch regular jobs this year so my time has been crazy limited this year had opportunities and blew them still have 2 days. I wouldn't give up one season for the other. i love having a bird gobble right in my face and spittin and drummin but i also love the chess match with big mature deer. i cant give the edge to one or the other. im going to stay out of the waterfowl debate haha
 
On the duck thing. Everyone here thinks they're great duck killers because they have access to a 2 acre wet spot. It doesn't take Fred bear to shoot birds on a small water hole, it's a shoot not a hunt. I'm all for it, but it's not a display of skill.

The big lakes are basically loaded with boat dock birds that trade around with a few migrant birds that are just glad to see other ducks. Again, not rocket science.

Really duck hunting compared to deer or turkeys doesn't take a whole ton of skill. Ducks are simple creatures

There was a day I loved it, but it's a zoo anymore and I don't have the patience for idiots like I used to.
