I sold my last 22 and needed something to squirrel hunt with...and other critters.
Thought about going with the wmr, but the more I thought about it, the more i realized...I've got CFs for bigger critters.
Was thinking about going with a varmint barrel bolt action...perhaps another CZ.
Then it dawned on me...as much as I really want to...I don't squirrel hunt very often...maybe only once or twice this past fall. I don't target shoot much anymore...just don't have time. What to do??

Several years ago I found an older Henry H001 in a pawn shop...got it cheap. Looked like it had been sitting in a corner for many years. The action (around the trigger) was packed full of dust...and I do mean packed!!
Brought it home and took the cover off of it. Imagine my surprise to learn it was just pot metal. This also applies to the golden boy...it's just a brass colored cover over pot metal... I think it's actually called zamak 5...or something like that.

After cleaning it up, it had the slickest action I had ever felt, but I sent it on its way. It was from the older plant... before they moved to Bayonne NJ. Wished I had kept it.

Couple years later, I bought a new one. Shot it a few times and just wasn't impressed. Guess I had shot too many CZs by that time. Sent it on its way.

Flash forward to the present...and my search for another 22 LR.
What I want and what is practical just aren't the same anymore. I've spent the last few weeks reading reviews on a lot of different 22s, and I've come back to the Henry. I grew up hunting squirrels with a 39a, and those just aren't in the budget right now. I would love to have one, but...

Well, as of yesterday....I am again the owner of another Henry 22. Going to give it another try. Surely it will be accurate enough to pop the occasional squirrel noggin...and a whole bunch of fun shooting soda cans, etc.

I'm going to try to use it with just irons, but not sure...my eyes aren't what they once were.

Anyway...my new shooting iron...
