I want a 70 yard pattern

Not sure why you'd want a 70 yard pattern for shots under 40. Makes it that much easier to miss

I can put you in touch with a guy I know. He told me he has a 10 gauge shooting lead that will put 150 pellets in a 10" circle at 80 yards. But he also told me he has 2 paper Kroger sacks level full with beards from turkeys he's killed. I don't know how many beards it would take to fill 2 paper Kroger sacks, but I do know it would be a bunch.

Would take more than a man could kill in his lifetime by limiting out in Tennessee every year along with every surrounding state.

You and I don't know the size of turkeys he kills. I'm guessing they have beards like barge ropes, spurs like butcher knives, and could stand flat footed and make love to a full grown emu.

Y'all complain about a 60yd shot on a turkey, but glorify the 500 or 1000 yard shot on a deer. To me that is just as unethical as a 60-70 yard turkey.
I can agree with that. For the record, I've killed my fair share of deer, and ain't none of them been past 75 yards ;)

This day will go down in TNDeer history as "that time cowhunter agreed with someone". Fitting that it happened on leap day- not possible more than every 4 years!

I don't often see people praising shooting deer at long range but deer aren't turkeys either.

Not him. I would come more near believing him if he told me. He hunts multiple states every year and I've seen some of his spur ropes. But 2 paper Kroger sacks would be a tall order for anyone.

I agree 100%. And they're shooting does at that. Why risk non lethal injuries to an animal at 500 yards that will walk by at 20? The ones that really get me are the "so proud of Little Johnny! Killed his first deer this morning @ 283 yards and he's only 10!" How unethical is it to let a 10 year old kid that has never killed a deer or practiced at 300 yards take a shot like that at a live animal?

I have wondered this many times. I've heard Well he hit the deer at 200 but we couldn't find it. Last year was my 8 yr old sons first year at trying for a deer. We passed several times deer were past 100 yards because he wasn't comfortable shooting. We also ended the season empty handed but had a dang good time.
