When making friction calls I would use spring clamps when gluing my soundboard on the pedestal. I had problems with the soundboard cracking or sometimes the soundboard sliding over making contact with the side of the call. I turn a jig on the lathe that fits over the soundboard and keeps it away from the side of the call and allowing you to get the soundboard centered perfectly each time you glue it on the pedestal.
