I actually contemplated this stuff before maybe that's why some birds skirt you or don't come. Maybe they can smell just fine and all this time they had us duped into believing they couldn't smell.

If not, then why was there a vendor at the NWTF show several years ago (the first and only time I went for several years after seeing this vendor) selling turkey sex attractant lure ?

they actually can smell, just not to the level of say deer or bear. It is a sense they use so it is possible for one to sense something at close ranges.
