ranking, as the first poll is announced the following Tuesday?

BTW, here's the current projection. This has to assume that GA beats us, and whoever they play in the SEC championship game.

Very well could happen, and how awesome would that be?

Serious question: With the exception of the potential value for recruitment, why do so many fans want their respective teams to be #1 in the rankings? I'd rather see a team peak at the right time than carry the burden...the pressure of remaining #1 week after week. The players, coaches, media, hype, all just needlessly consume mental energy with the #1 bullseye on the program.

I for one think the Vols are in a really good place...just keep playing well and don't worry about rankings. Clearly they're top 4 when it matters most. They made it this far...just keep playing and don't let it go to your head.

I agree 100%.

I started this thread to rile the few opposing fans who had made the sports forum unbearable the last few years.

But, the first rankings do come out next Tuesday, I think, and if we win Saturday, our resume would be deserving of being #1.

Like you said though, it would probably be better to not be #1 at this point.
