"I'm getting too old for this!"

Glenn will be 85 this year.

My dad and I have made the trek to Middle TN for several years to hunt with him.

One of my annual goals is to put a bird in front of him. He's limited mobility wise, but we were able to get close enough to this bird we spotted in a field with a hen.

We sat up in a fence line that had some cedars for cover.

He only answered me once to some cutting and a long yelp sequence. Ten minutes later he's standing at 55 yards in strut after coming through another set of cedars. Glenn hadn't seen him , so I had to get him positioned just right, and luckily he strutted in range.

His old Winchester did the trick.
Congratulations! That is outstanding!

Thanks everyone. Hunting with Glenn has given us access to some great properties to hunt, although the birds aren't as abundant as a few years ago. So, trying to put him in position to be the shooter is the least I can do.

There are several "luck" factors that made yesterday's success come about. The main one being he had tried to call me at 8:04 Fri evening to tell me that it looked rain Sat morning and not to come. Just so happens that I went to bed at 8:00 and turned my phone silent.

He still has the fire, and his mind is sharp. His body just hinders him, but we have options.

Hearing him and dad (81 this fall) talking about not knowing how many more seasons they'll be able to go is sobering.

And just look at the latest camo Glenn is wearing. Eat your heart out Toxey Hayes and Bill Jordan.

This reminded me. After I got his chair positioned, and he got seated and put his gloves and face mask on, he asked me if he was covered up ok.

I looked and said, "Button that bottom button on your shirt, because your long John's are visible !" :D

Neat to hear they can still hunt at those ages, seems like you cherish every memory, so totally worth it man, even if they only have 1-5 years left of hunting, but based on the picture, he looks healthy, to me it seems he can hunt till 90
