Im smelling death

I have a lot of deer on my place and have worried with the drought of EHD. The ponds are small puddles and have been for 2 months.
Today I smell death in the air. Hopefully I have time tomorrow to look around.

I smelled a couple dead animals on my daily afternoon ride today. I was wondering if that might be the case.

Seen one this week running large circles beside road in the middle of the day. I stopped and when it came by close I could see it's mouth swollen up and tongue hanging out. It was oblivious to the road and just running large erratic circles. I have never seen one still alive with ehd but figured that's what it had. It was on Marshall / Bedford county line.

I'd never seen it my entire life except for 2007. That was devastating. This round is late in the year, so shouldn't be as bad. It will rain.

I haven't noticed it yet this year, but a few years ago it was bad. Smelled dead deer for all of September and parts of August and October.

I believe you are correct recurve60#. I think the late outbreak will limit the damage once it rains, and I'm feeling good about the rains from this next tropical system.
