Indiana Football - He Has A Point

I don't think any team should get to play on their home field during the playoffs.

The playoffs is good for the sport.year 1 of the 12 team showed how flawed the BCS / 4 team era was. More meaningful football games is fine with me. Tune the seeding and most college fans seem to be happy.

It's NEVER going back to a smaller field I don't care how bad bama and little nick cry if anything it will expand.
The only reason its never going back to a smaller field is money. They want that TV money and they don't care anything about the quality of play. That is clear.

Definitely agree to end conference championship games. I also think the national championship should be the Rose Bowl every year as it is the biggest stage in college football. And play it on New Year Day by having playoff games each weekend after the regular season and a bye week before the Natty.

I'd argue that for most teams, a conference championship means much more than a long shot at a national championship.

Then there are those that haven't been relevant in college football for over 30 years (or never) that just being a part of the national championship process was enough for them that they felt like they accomplished "something" .

Yeah, for IU it's been a never had a chance because they've never been good enough in a tough conference. For some other teams that are good enough to be in the top 10-15 ranked teams at the end of the year the system never gave them a chance to play for the championship because, even if they had the same record, they didn't have the brand name of Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame etc. We've all seen plenty of "lesser" teams beat better teams in the regular season and in the playoffs, it happens every single year. Why on earth would anyone want to limit the playoffs to 2-4 teams with 140 teams out there? Championships are not to decide the best team that particular year, just the team that was the last one not to lose. The best team argument is for pundits and homer fans to haggle about. There no objective criteria to decide who is the best, just who is the champion. It's much more likely to get the best team to win the championship in sports that can have a set 7 game series to decide the winner, but that just can't happen in football.

That may be the best post so far in 2025.
