Instapot/ Pressure Cooker

I don't have that brand but I have a $60 version that I got from walmart. Its basically a pressure cooker/crockpot/old fashion electric pot. It works well for all of those things. I got it because I needed a pressure cooker at the time and decided to try something different. If you want one pot that does everything, then its a good buy.

Which brand do you have?
I've got the Instant Pot brand, Lux 6 quart. It's just me and the wife, so it's plenty big enough. If you've got a family, you may want the 8 quart.

we've been using it so long, it's more of a just throw it in the pot with some chicken broth and go. But, here are a couple that are somewhat reproducible.

1. saute some onions and garlic
2. throw in 4-6 sprigs of Thyme
3. 1 cup of dried beans
4. 3 frozen chicken breasts
5. 6 cups of chicken broth
6. set manually for 25 minutes
7. after 25 minutes, release pressure
8. remove chicken
9. set Instant Pot for 10 more minutes to finish beans
10. cut into eating size pieces
11. release pressure
12. add chicken back in and 2-3 handfuls of Kale (any greens work)
13. Set for 3 minutes of pressure
14. let pressure release on its own.
15. eat

1. marinate a deer shoulder in a blended can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for 4-8 hours
2. sear in Instant Pot on saute setting. You want the marinade to almost burn to the outside of the shoulder.
3. add diced onions, garlic, carrots
4. add leftover marinade, 3/4 bottle of Modelo Negra, a little chicken broth
5. Set to manual for 45 minutes
6. stand there and smile in anticipation as you drink the remaining 1/4 of the beer.
7. grab another beer and continue smiling, repeat as often as necessary
8. let pressure release on its own
9. serve over rice with black beans and a squeeze of lime and cilantro. Leftovers make awesome tacos.

I made osso buco in mine, surprisingly good.
Sweet potatoes are a breeze to make.
The only time I did a whole chicken it turned out dry.
Friend of ours gave us his because he didn't use it much but so far I think the instant pot is worth the money.

Yes that is a good price and worth the money.. ;)

Had my truck parked at the bottom of the hill due to snow..UPS driver left my Instant Pot in the covered truck bed. Really glad I got the 8qt DUO model. I make soups/stews/chili/sauce/stock I do pretty big batches and freeze. But there is a lot more I am finding out I can do with this instant pot.
So looking for a first recipe.

I bought my wife one in '16. She liked it so much we bought the 8 qt last year. We use it several times a week from everything from broth to yogurt.

Our first experience was a off brand from Aldi in '15. It quit working, so we took it back to Aldi. Being Aldi, they took responsibility for them, bought them back, and took them off the shelf.

Made my first instant pot recipe... well kind of cooked the meat in the instant pot still had to make the smothered burritos in the oven. Anyway..65min is tooo long to cook a 5lb sirloin tip roast and seasoning. Ended up with more of a meat hash(now I know how my grandma made onion and black pepper beef/squirrel/rabbit hash)..Still it made great burritos adding black beans rice and cheese to the tortilla with meat.. rolled them up covered with cheese and enchilada sauce and a few pepper slices ..baked in oven till melted and bubbly.

Delicious but not a pulled beef texture. Topped with lettuce/tomato/onion/salsa/sour cream and black beans and rice as a side if desired.

Probably next time 30-35 min on the meat. Want the recipe for meat/beans/rice PM me. Give you best I can.
