Is my bow fast enough?

I normally shoot 100gr. 3-blade muzzys but this year with all the rage buzz I might try them and I was wondering about speed I have an older bow that only shoots about 270-280 fps is that fast enough or should I stay with the tried and true muzzy?

faster than 250 i wouldnt have a problem shoting a mechanical but i havent shot rage heads

I'm trying rage this year for the first time and I shoot a older bow myself but it still gets the job done

I personally will not shoot mechanicals of any kind. I think there is a reason they are not allowed in any shape, form, or fashion by professional guides in Africa. That includes hunting the little animals as well as the big ones.

Don't be affraid to try mechanical broadheads.I have shot anywhere from 50 lb bows up to 103 lb bows.If you get use to a bow and broadhead combination and have confidence plus shooting small groups.I wouldn't be scaried if mine shot 200 feet per second.

Think about it, alot of people are hunting with recurves these days, 280 is plenty fast!!

You will be good to go . Speed is okay I prefer shot placement with a sharp broadhead.

280 is plenty. It doesn't matter how fast you're shooting if you don't hit the target. My old PSE shot around 251. Never had my Switchback on a chrono and have no intention to.

You bow is plenty fast enough . I shot plenty of deer in the old days with bows that shot a 2117 Gamegetter @ 190 fps .
Guys get too caught up in speed .

Headhunter, I think you should ask the deer and hogs I have shot with expandables what they think. African animals and scrawny whitetail deer are two different things. Like shooting a dove with a .270 rifle.

I have killed a couple deer with the rage BH. I think you will be fine. Just take a good double lung shot and enjoy the blood trail. Hope you have a great season and good luck!
