Normal laundry detergent has brighteners in it. Don't use it. Baking soda or special hunting detergent is the way to go.

Yep, they can definitely see clothes washed with detergents that have brightness. Baking soda works well, so do a couple commercial deer hunting detergents.

I wash my clothes in unscented tide. Just cause I can't stand artificial smells. I do carry a battery operated neon sign and hang it on my tree that says "hot does here". Seems to work.

If you want to see your clothes somewhat like a deer sees them (and yes, deer can see slightly into the UV spectrum), just put your clothes out in a dark room and turn on a black light. If those clothes have been washed with detergents containing brighteners, they will glow like a neon sign. If not, they will be dull.

That helps to keep people from crowding your hunting spot too! Nobody wants to hunt near some naked dude in the woods.

I use the detergents for baby clothes. No extra or harsh chemicals and no perfumes. Seems to work pretty well.

We use unscented detergent, my one son hunts in buckskins, me and my other son dress in jeans and flannel shirt, sometime wear camo if it's there. It's spot & stalk time then.

I used to use a detergent that was specifically geared towards reducing UV reflection from clothing. However, I eventually got my clothes so UV unreflective that I just use scent reducing detergents now.
