Not uncommon at all, pretty shocked an all knowing turkey slayer like yourself is surprised by this. I guess birds with spurs like this don't run into decoys much.

I got lucky and killed 1
But I was reaping
So does it really count

But I'm not much of a turkey hunter anymore. I'm pretty broke down physically and suffer from paralysis in a leg .Killed most of Mine 20-30 yrs ago. But I still like to go a couple times a yr. Just to take my youngest and get him interested .
He's 9 this yr
That's about all the turkey slaying in me
Hopefully he sees and hears 1.

Gravey I haven't either
I have never kept a spur
I did cut the beards of all of em
I Remember the better ones
Most of the best ones were late 80's and and 90's . Giles co birds around Lynville Richland creek area south of Pulaski. Had some awesome farms I had access to. and Catoosa area birds . But I can't say I paid attention to the spur color
Weren't many birds in the valley in east tn where I'm from.

Anyways looked different to me
Good luck to all
It looks like season has great potential this yr
