Maybe if he cant hold on to the football running it, they can find a way to use him on defense. Rumors are they practiced him there today... Time will tell how that works out. I'm all about putting your best athletes on the field, wherever they can attribute.

Jeremy Banks was at middle linebacker today, getting a lot of 1-on-1 attention from head coach Jeremy Pruitt. He also spent much of two open periods shadowing senior Darrin Kirkland Jr.

Banks has all the physical tools, and was learning how to step with the correct foot, strike and wrap up. One hilarious moment did happen when Banks actually had the football back in his hands. During a tackling drill, he ran straight through Dillion Bates. I mean straight through him. Bates' helmet nearly came off and he had to collect himself after the blow, where he was supposed to tackle Banks. Kevin Sherrer had to holler at Banks, "Don't run 'em over."

:tu: :smash:

That guy loves to put people in the dirt. Looks for people to hit when running the ball, just cant hang on to it. Lol.

From what Ive read, he asked to be moved to defense. Wants to be on the field wreckin fools.

With his aggression I could see him getting a targeting penalty.
And I wouldn't even be mad about it.

That was going to be my response, but you beat me to it.

However, I REALLY like him as a RB if he could just hang on to the ball.

This seems to be a good place to ask this question since the trash hasn't shown up yet.

I saw no point in watching Saturday after the first couple of series, but from reports Chryst seemed to play fairly well. Do you think Pruitt would start him over JG this weekend? JG apparently took all first-team reps in practice. I admire JG's toughness, but he just doesn't have a high football IQ.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unfortunately, everything points to Pruitt starting JG on Saturday. I hope I am wrong. Your right, he doesn't have a high IQ. He also does not have leadership qualities that I look for in a QB. When I say that, I mean he basically seems to be a loner. I do not see him communicate with his teammates on the sideline or on the field, especially when things aren't going well.

I seen a quote on Volnation that fits his situation well:

"Some qb's hit the open receiver and some qbs spend their whole career trying to find the open receiver" (something like that)

As far as JG goes, there must be something else there that we are not seeing. Even after the loss to Alabama, Pruitt had hardly any praise for Chryst, basically stating they "planned" for JG so it was just something different. I don't know. I agree that Chryst seems to have better football IQ but there must be something else to why Pruitt is so high on JG other than "he is tough"

I tend to agree with what you are saying, I sure wish we knew what it was. I do trust Pruitt but I just hope he doesn't think JG is our long term answer. Hopefully its Shrout or one of the other kids they are recruiting next year and beyond.

I really like the Maurer kid in 2019 class

What's odd to me was, going in to the season, the opinion being floated was that they were hoping Chryst would win the job. Now, who knows!

I've seen some speculate that since JG will be here next year, keep giving him the reps. But, I would think you would do everything possible to get bowl eligible THIS year, even if that meant sitting JG.

I guess we just have to trust the process at this point. However, if JG is again the starter next year, I will begin to doubt the whole staff. I cant go along with him being the starter at that point. By then it seems like they will look at Shrout or Maurer as the future and be sure they are getting the reps. Watching JG each week makes me want to bang my head against a wall. I'm not against the guy or have hard feelings toward him, I just cant find ANYTHING about him to make me hopeful. Sure he had an awesome game against Auburn but shouldn't you have a few of those games under your belt after starting 10 or so? (cant remember exactly how many starts he has had at this point)

It's really simple between JG and Chryst. The team would still be no better than 3-4 if Chryst had played more. Without better offensive line play, a different qb won't make a bit of difference. Chryst is gone after this year so it doesn't benefit him or the team to play him unless necessary.

Maybe that is true. On Mondays Press Conference following the Alabama game someone asked if Pruitt should be playing the younger D-Linemen to get them some reps... his response was something like "No. We have 4 seniors that are playing their tails off, doing everything we ask, and deserve to be on the field. We will worry about next year, next year"
