I've spent probably 3 hrs in front of the computer today planning for next yr. I'm not taking the easy way out with private ground if I can keep from it.

Hard to tell in this pic but this was Friday morning right after daylight the day before the opener. I was charges by a 7-8 ft gator and I started thinking what the heck did I get myself into. He got within 15 ft of me before I could tell what he was. He was snapping his jaws and grunting. I really almost peed my pants.





Panther track I found that same morning. Found 4 sets over a 5 day period.

If I seen one of these I seen 50 a day. Had a couple even at our camp.

Had to walk through this to find those water holes.

Crisscrossing through this stuff all day will wear ya down. This was the last day on my way out just before shut off time.

This is an open area. It would have been awesome if that switch grass wasn't waist high. Lol. Boy how I wished they had burnt this area before we got there. Bet the hunting would have been better. Still a trip I will never forget. And I will be back. The challenge has been made!

we will see how much hunting you do after # 2 gets here lol
 
Great recap. I have never been to Florida to hunt, but it looks like an awesome challenge and a trip full of great memories. I wish you the best of luck next time you make the drive south.
 
You did a lot better than I did last year down there! I'll try it again someday, probably farther North than where I went.

Great Story! The gators really wouldn't have bothered me but if I would have seen that Panther fixing to eat my decoy I might have needed to go to the nearest bass pro to get me some new hunting britches.
