Kiffin to Ole Miss

Ole Miss and TN play every 8 years or so.

The next Ole Miss / UT game is 2021.

It's official. A statement has been releaesd. I don't think he's a GREAT coach - but I don't think we could get anyone better. (I'm assuming Norvell is going to FSU)

I'm also please that Keith Carter seems to be making this decision himself - not by some committee of good ol boys as they've done in the past.

I won't worry about next year's record too much. The schedule is brutal. Our first 5 of our first 7 games are Baylor, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, and Florida. There's a solid chance we're 2-5 at that point. Aside from the coaching this year, we just didn't have that much real talent.

I'll look for better play calling, having the players play hard the entire game, discipline, and recruiting. After 2020 I'll be expecting better results.

On the plus side, Kiffin is a "name" that will put people in the seats, at least for a couple of games. The program needs some energy injected.

I say that's a pretty good take. Will be interested to see what Ole Miss looks like in a couple years. I mentioned in another thread where Kiffin was still rumored to be headed to AR, but I do not envy any team in the west trying to rebuild/take the next step/whatever superlative you want to use.
