Kinda sickening

According to the selection committee, they (along with all of the other selections) are in the playoff based on merit. I never heard or read anything about from the committee saying history, money, or anything else was a factor in their decision.
Come on man. You really think they're gonna mention anything about those things? Like I said keep the crimson shades on. It's amazing everybody sees it except bama fans.

I have heard multiple commentators say that very thing. Will the committee say it? No. Will they act on it? Maybe. We can look at college football history and see many times where a team got their chance or ranking because of what their history was. I may not like it, but it is what it is. No one knows who wins a matchup between Alabama and Boise State. We know who SHOULD win, not would win, and there is a big difference there. Just like we knew who should win in a game between OK and Alabama two weeks ago.

Can't reason with some of these

I'm sure some of y'all will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember Alabama being ranked pretty high for much of the BCS era when the so-called bias$ S$election committee was not a factor.
In fact, Alabama won 3 National Championships under the BCS model. And 3 post-BCS National Championships. It doesn't seem like much has changed in the last ~25 years. Facts are facts.

What does any of that have to do with this year? Not a dam thing

According to Doughboy , the past plays a huge part. He has said it time and time again. But I think you are right and he is wrong.

It is relevant to debunk the idea that money is the only reason that the committee put Alabama in the playoffs. They were frequently in the Championship well before there was a committee making the picks.

We will find out over the next few weeks if Alabama really deserved to be there. I'm not sure they are deserving, but Its hard to find many teams that are more deserving.

There have always been people involved in picking who gets in the playoffs. Even with the BCS.

I agree that Alabama has a good enough resume to be in the playoffs this year although I think Ole Miss should be there instead. If Alabama plays well in the playoffs has nothing to do with putting them in it. The way it looks now, Alabama will go to South Bend and play Notre Dame in the first round which they are only a 3 point dog in, so they can win that game. The second round would be against Boise State, which would have Alabama a double digit favorite.
I really like this 12 team playoff, but I think automatic bids and seeds are not at all a good idea.

I like the automatic bids. Those teams beat all the teams they needed to, to win their conference. Just some conferences are not as good as others. I hope Notre Dame Sooners Alabama!!

Yeah, what I meant was seeding the conference champions 1-4 instead of where they are ranked. This will also screw ND (even if we don't like them!) who can fall a couple seeds based upon who wins or loses and by how much this weekend.

I personally don't think they are playing well enough to make a deep run at it. Seems they are dependant on what sort of game Milroe has or should I say how the other team finds a way to shut him down especially when he works his way on the edges. If they cannot find a way to shut him down when he gets on the edges he is gone. He has incredible speed and leg strength.

But if for some reason ALABAMA does make a deep run at it or wins it all. Remember Yall (The collective body of the NCAA) have been asking for this expansion of the playoffs for years and now its here. So if it happens don't go whining. Because you asked for exactly THIS scenario.

Vols are in we are not whining about anything, but did you know a simple fact bama is the only 3 loss team in the playoff discussion ?? you must be very proud

No one here works for or is affiliated with the NCAA to my knowledge. "Ya'll" makes no sense at all

I posted back in September that there would be a 3 loss team in the playoff. I have to go to work, but I'll look up the post when I get a chance.

And I for one am excited for these playoffs, even if Alabama is gifted a spot because of legacy. If Alabama gets in and wins does not mean they should have gotten in, and it doesn't mean they were the best team in college football this year. It just means they were given the opportunity and made the most out of it, and good on them if they do. For me, I just don't think they should get the bid because I think Ole Miss and maybe even USCe or Miami are the better team.
