Lady Vols

I haven't been much of a fan of the Lady Vols in recent years, as they were just hard to watch.

But I love this style the new coach has them playing.

It was a great comeback. I didn't hate the last shot as she can make them and it was wide open. This one just didn't fall.

If she can keep some of these touted commitments, she very well may turn them around.

Great on the comeback, not so great on the last shot and only down by 1. I think that will be a less learned for future games. That big girl for OK took up alot of space down low. Two of the best looking coaches (TN/OK) definitely.

I caught the tail end of it and not sure why the girl took a shot from 3 with plenty of time left and only down 1.
I'm not sure about her ball handling skills or mid range shot, but she's a 3 point shooter and normally makes that shot if she's open. I didn't mind her taking that shot but I wish the ball had gone to someone else closer to the basket.

It was ineffective the first half.

But it wore OU down to allow them to come back in the second half.

My thought on the press is that your top tier athletes will beat it when they are 100%. When they get tired- not so much. Some of the one sided wins they've had this year have been tighter at halftime.

The press is the only way that they have to be competitive, especially when you are at a talent deficit. That is her style.

Plus, the press got them back in the game. And she rotates a fresh 5 every so often.

It's like Niland Richardson when he was at Arkansas, and they termed it 40 minutes of hell.

Yes you will give up easy baskets, but the opponent better be in shape because it's going to be full speed for 40 minutes. She told her players when she was hired that she would demand everything they have physically to get them ready for the season. They even had puke buckets.

Also, I think every player has the green light to shoot the 3 and she wants them going up.

Some nights it will get you blown out, but some nights it'll get you the W and it is fun to watch athletic basketball players.

Credit OK coach for scouting us and they also play fast and mass sub so they kept themselves fresh enough to run with us. Kim isnt going to change anything about her style of play. Ive watched pretty much every game. Its wide open, full out full court press for around 2 to 3 minutes and then she mass subs and the next crew is wide open again. Wear the oponent down, full court pressure to cause them to make mistakes and volume shooting and if the shots arent falling, law of averages, keep shooting and they will eventually. Just sometimes they dont. Puckett is a pretty dang good shooter from 3. I had no problem with her taking that shot and Kim didnt either.
