Very nice deer!
Love those dark horns....great buck!Got this one on Saturday.
Just a small dude, but great memory. I actually got frustrated early hadn't seen a deer all weekend. I Was setting on the ground in the rain stood up ready to pack up. Well when I did that I noticed this guy making his way to me 70 yards out or so. I Slowly set back down and got a shot a few moments later. It was a heck of a drag out of that hole completely soaked. You can't tell in the picture I walked back to the truck first to put up my gear. I decided to take off my heavy boots and rain gear, then walked all the way back to drag him out that place in tennis shoes. Not the smartest move. View attachment 154296
Congrats you guys. Thanks for sharingGot this one on Saturday.
The pigs were already bad in area 15 several years ago.Glad a few people had success. No one in our group of three killed anything in unit 15. I saw zero deer in a spot that has been productive in the past, Just hogs Friday and Saturday morning. My buddy had an oak dropping right beside him and saw 10 deer on Friday morning, then not much else. Other buddy saw a doe and fawn plus pigs on Friday.
I think the weather was an issue but the hog sign is incredible compared to just two years ago when I was last out there. No clue why they are protecting their pigs, but pigs where what all the hunters we talked to were talking about. It will be interesting to see how they handle it in the future.
Sweet. Before everyone started shed hunting LBL I picked up a few sets that had a lot of points. No real size. I don't remember the exact scores (130ish) but a couple that had 7 on one sideI have a pic of a 16 pt in velvet and near there. Short tines but a cool buck. Only the 1 pic and it was from August. No big deer since that 1 either.
