Leaving boat to go hunting public land?

I tie my jon boat up with a logging chain and master lock. When I remember to. I have hunted out of a boat for years never had a problem. Most places i hunt I can see the water anyway. Most deer seem to follow the contour of the lake where I hunt. I think it is mainly because of hunting pressure drives them closer to the water since most hunters are lazy around here.

I tie mine up and don't worry about it, if someones going to steal it or mess it up it don't matter what you do. But I do like the clear a shooting lane to your boat idea :grin:

I have heard stories on PPWMA and OHWMA of people putting signs on the seat that say something to the effect of "I can see you and I have a gun."

Just pull your boat up on the bank and go hunt. I've never had a problem with a thief and my boat while hunting. They know you are armed and are close by.
