Do any of y'all deal with leg cramps AFTER you're done hunting? If so, Is there any home grown remedy (other than pickle juice) that helps and/or prevents cramps? For the last 2-3 years I've been dealing with leg cramps, and it seems like there's no way to avoid them. Sure would be nice to find a way to prevent them. I do drink plenty of water while in the stand, and also take a bottle of Gatorade (or something similar) when I hunt. Thoughts?

I do Isometric exercises to work my leg muscles without moving much .Tens unit for my back. I A lot of old timers swear by Black strap Molasses .

I put the propel powder in my bottled water. Seems to help some.
Propel is the answer. I drink several 20 oz Propels every day (powder in water), and although I run distance a couple of times per week, no cramps. However, if I don't drink electrolytes, severe leg cramps.

I use Drip Drop for my electrolyte load up for distance runs. They work very well also.

Alright, I'm gonna buy some Propel and see how this stuff does for me. What flavor is good, and what do I want to avoid? Is the grape flavor something like the elixir we had when we were kids back in the 80's? If yes, I think I'd definitely want to avoid that. Y'all let me know which of these tastes the best. Thanks.

I like all the flavors, but Berry is probably my favorite and Grape my least favorite. Orange Raspberry is probably my 2nd favorite. But be forewarned that the flavors of Propel are a bit more bold than most sports drinks.

I like the kiwi strawberry and the black cherry. Black cherry kinda tastes like the Gatorade glacier freeze.

Liquid IV is the best powder to mix with water that I have found. Pricey, but good stuff.
Another vote for Liquid IV. It works wonders. Almost immediate turnaround when you start drinking it. Strawberry is my favorite. I've tried propel, and it worked, but nothing like Liquid IV. Other than that, eat a banana before you head to the woods and stretch. Stretching is often overlooked. That's the first thing I do every morning whether I'm hunting or not. It gets you loose and ready to go

Just remember a banana doesn't have enough potassium in it to make much of a difference. You would need to eat an entire bunch to equal what you can get from some of the power/recovery sports drinks.

I know for a fact. That it's been much cooler so far this year. Than in any other year that comes to mind. So when your not sweating your hind end off. Which is very normal for archery season in TN. You need to force yourself to drink water. Being dehydrated will happen easily now. So drink water whether your thirsty or not along with electrolytes.I might also myself try some liquid IV never had it.

Hey BSK,
How many miles do you run typically run, if you don't mind me asking. Just curious. Thanks.
