Let us see

My first was a jake when I was 12. No one I knew at the time turkey hunted so I went by myself and with a cheap slate and an old fixed barrel 12g. Killed a bobcat comming to my call that same spring before I killed the jake.

My first was a jake around 1994, don't ever recall taking a pic. Here are my first two old birds, circa 1995-1997 time frame. That was about 20 years and 80 pounds ago. :) You can tell I was a greenhorn, did not even know how to pose for a pic.......h*ll, just throw him on da'hood of the truck. :tu:

This isn't my first but it's one my first probably around 1995 in Alabama.

2nd day of season 2014, sitting in woods attempting to call thinking you have no idea what you are doing. I get up and start walking and calling, make it about 100 yards and hear a hen calling. First thing I think is somebody else here with me, then he gobbles. I make my way straight up hill to where he is gobbling, I make it lean against tree trying to catch my breath and he gobbles 20 yards away. Now I don't know what to do we are at standoff, I peak around the tree to see him standing there looking at me, I ease around the tree trying to get a steady shot, and not my proudest moment but I had 6 shells with me shot every one but I got the bird.

Can't find a pic but mine was in 1997 I think. It was the first turkey season in my county and it was a jake

Still have never killed one, hoping to change that this year but still researching what to do after the kill and how to get the meat and fan for a mount (taxidermy work?)

Maybe you should research how to kill one first :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :poke: :rotf:

I don't have a picture of my first. It was well before cell phones with cameras, and I was staying in the Cheatham WMA checking station at the time as I was transitioning to the Nashville office. My camera was a couple of hundred miles away.

But, I have the tail and beard (11") mounted behind me, and the feet/spurs on the book case. #1 had the best set of spurs (1 3/4) that I have killed.

My first turkey was a jake.I called in a group of 5 with a box call that I still use. I had an old Iver Johnson single shot 12 gauge that kicked like a mule. This was around 1994.
