Lets say you have an extra $1000.00.....

$600 down I'd go with a Martin. I know I would cause I've seen me do it :D

I bought a Bengal in 07' and absolutely love it. I don't have much over $600 in the bow rigged out with a dozen arrows. It shoots comparable to my buddies $1k Destroyer... IMO :D

I I had a thousand bux I'd buy a rifle. If I had six hundred bux or less I'd buy a year old Strothers or Elite Archery something or other.

I really am intriqued with the Bear Carnage.345FPS from a single cam with 7 1/4 brace.Sounds like a great hunting bow.

$600 or less?I would just keep saving for what i really want.

i have not shot any of the new bows in the last 4 or 5 years so i can't answer this question. i would shoot every bow in that range i could get my hands on.

The Elite and Strother bows are nice bows for around $700 for their flagships. I liked the Elite Answer and Strother Rush.

If you can keep it together, the PSE Evo 6 and 7 are the best two bows I've shot in the last couple yrs. They run about $850. They are by far the smoothest drawing bows of the ones I've shot this year and last year...and decently fast. At 28.5" draw length and 68 lbs, with a 403 grain arrow, the Evo 6 is shooting 305 fps. With a 355 grain arrow we shot through it at the same specs, it was in the mid 320s.

If you go the way of Mathews...I say the Jewel is their best bow they've built in a long time. Awesome bow if you are a short draw archer. Get one in black/camo or just camo and experience the smoothness. And I think the MR6 is a good bow as well. I didn't like it as well as the Evo...but had a tough time deciding between a Jewel for myself and the Evo.

BUT...if I had $1000 to drop on a bow right now...since I already have a hunting bow I would opt for a decked out target bow. Would either be an Elite Tour or Strother Moxie.

Okay, here is what i'm up against.... I have a hankerin for a new bow, but I have a Mathews Switchback.....See the issue? I cant find many that compare...... I will check out the Strothers though... Toms sporting goods has a few and I plan to shoot one day next week.... The Switchback aint the fastest bow, but man it is smooth... It is extremely comfy and pretty forgiving...Did I mention silent? No noise or vibration whatsoever.... I just got a hankerin, thats all it is....

I would check out bowtech. The assassin comes equipped (sight, stab, rest, quiver) for $650 brand new, and is a sweet bow. ibo is 333 fps i think, very smooth and pretty quiet. Binary cam system is nice, and the draw lenght is adjustable from 25-30 in. If you can find a new old stock 2011...I've seen them for as low as $550. For a G, check out the insanity, or for a little less, the invasion.

If I had a $1,000 dollars I would like to buy a bow exclusively for target/3D. It would have 60 lb limbs. Honestly the new Monster MR8 would be a sweet target bow and very forgiving.

My suggestion is get what you truly want, otherwise you won't be fully satisfied until you get the one you want. My preferance is Hoyt.

If you can justify all grand on archery equipment i'd be wearing the pro-shops out.Find what feels good to you and find a shop you feel you can trust and are honest. When you get that good gut feeling you know your at the right place. I will tell you now, you don't have to spend a grand to a a great setup.

good luck

Funny story:

Went and shot a 3D shoot today. First round was being scored...shot with my bow and shot 10 down. Turned right around and went and shot a fun round...with my wife's bow and shot WAY better than I did with my own bow. Me thinks I might just shoot hers from now own. LOL

Strother Valor it is.... Not the most expensive, but I shot more expensive bows & this is the one I liked... Dang this thing shoots fast!..... Out the door for around $500.00
