We got to take the good with the bad and since some like to post the bad about the Gators.... I will add some good. :super: Looks like FL didn't want Dan Mullen (Miss. St HC) but they were happy to steal their DC (Geoff Collins). Looks like a good hire...... :tu:

"Collins helped turn Mississippi State into one of the nation's top defenses. The Bulldogs rank 10th in scoring defense, allowing 19.4 points a game -- the 10th-lowest average in the FBS -- and lead the country in red-zone defense."

Nice catch!
Now it's time for my favorite team to come up with an OC, a DC, and a S&C coach. Too bad the head coach didn't resign.

How is the recruiting going with McELwain, looked yesterday and gators were at #85,looks like gators can't get the players they want,so they may have to recruit some 2 or3 star guys

Geoff Collins.....meh

Gators had one of the SECs best defensive coordinator as a head coach and they fired him. This is a downgrade IMO.

Most fans when losing a coach to a lateral move seem to want to down play the significance, but this MSU fan seems pretty knowledgeable and mkes some excellent points ;) :D !

I'll say it up front, I'm not sorry to see Collins go. I don't like that Mullen is searching for his 5th defensive coordinator in 7 years, but otherwise I was not that impressed with Collins.

This was MSU's most talented defense ever, and, despite what you may think, that includes some years when MSU had the best defense in the nation. The talent was wasted by a season of playing soft zone coverage with no blitzing, combined with some pathetic coaching in the defensive secondary. There were missed assignments all year long, and while the players need to learn the signals, it is up to the coaches to communicate effectively with the players.

There were bright spots, and when you cherry pick the right data you can see that MSU played a very effective "bend-but-don't break" defense. I HATE "bend-but-don't-break" defense.

State gave up tons of yards, particularly passing yards, but they were #1 in the nation in redzone defense. Of course, they also were one of the worst in the nation in giving up plays of 20+ yards, so you could argue that teams didn't need to be in the redzone to score against State. Hell, UMiss managed to score twice form inside their own 20.

They had a lot of sacks, a lot of TFLs, and a decent amounot of turnovers....but very few 3 and outs. And their prevent D sucked.

Kind of like what UT fans said about Kiffin when he left.... Shocker.... Funny part about it is that Kiffin has given TN their only winning season in almost a decade and Collins helped Miss. St. be in the playoff race and was at one time ranked #1..... :P Thanks for sharing what happens when a break up happens... :rotf: I'm sure most people say nice things about their exssss.........

I figured you know how it works...... :stir:

I Got it:) took me a while to find something positive about Floridas program and fans but I got something:)

Maybe next season when the experts are picking records maybe they wont have the gators winning 9,10,11 games lol ( Like they have the last two years) Getting the fans all happy and excited:) so when Florida shows up at the end of the year with a 4 or 6 win season the fans wont be so disappointed:/

Thats something positive right??

And.... UT still can't beat a bad UF team...... :stir:

^^ yeah that is real sad if your a vol fan not gonna lie:'( the funny thing is Florida beat UT last two years and the vols still finished with more wins or the same amount of wins;)

Only straw Gator fans can pull from last few years is beating TN. Everything else is doom and gloom on their football resume :smash:

When I hear last FEW years I think back 2 Maybe 3 years when was the gators last N/C 2008? 6 seasons have passed since then.
New coach and All new players since then:/

So that really has nothing to do with Next season:)

Well, you like to dwell in the past so much, like 3 NC the last 18 years,I'll go back in the past with UT 6 National Championships, plus lots of SEC Championships.Tennessee has more wins than any SEC team except for Alabama.Tennessee and Alabama are the only SEC teams that are Top Ten all time football powers

I reckon 6 seasons are better than 16 seasons past.....and 1951 before that.....[emoji12]
