Is it just my little area or are some of you guys experiencing less than usual deer activity and sightings during the daylight?

Maybe I done too much too close to season and scared them off…. Heard a shot by neighbors yesterday morning and this morning from the same general area… Just kinda seems this year is lacking so far compared to last year. Same with camera pics… I found a doe skeleton before bow season and not sure what happened but I hope nothing bad is going on.

Maybe it's just the crazy weather we have seen lately… it was pretty windy with gusts all weekend and I didn't see any deer up moving until after I started still hunting through the cedar woods and walked up on 3 different small bucks… either bedded or just hanging out in the lower wind protected areas. It was a pretty cool experience being so close…

Movement/ rut timing has been normal where I hunt. First does just starting to come in. We've seen 3 bucks over 4.5 so far. Our best 3.5yos (a 130 and a 135in) have both been within shooting distance as well.

Now for whatever reason (prob high grading the best 2.5s and 3.5s past few years), we don't have a single mature buck over 130 that I've been able to find. So having fun hunting, but failing miserably at killing. Getting pretty late in the season for new bucks to shift in, but one can always hope!

As far as shots... WAY down compared to years prior. But I suspect not being able to hear from wind is the reason.

It's a strange lackluster season for most of whitetail country. Most people I hear from are really struggling to get on deer, and the kill reports in just about every state I've seen support the anecdote. My wife works out on AEDC and says her biologist has only reported one harvested deer so far this season on the base. So don't get too bummed out. It's not just you.

Business as usual for me. Or maybe just slightly better. I'm seeing deer but not hearing alot of shots. Wonder if less people are hunting?

Just had this dude locked down with a doe in the back yard in Macon county.. was watching a littler buck before he popped out.. bigger buck with doe layed down behind shed while the other buck bedded about 45 yds away..

It's been a little slower compared to last year at this time. I think it's because of the warmer than usual temps.
I had 6-7 different Bucks on camera first week of Archery and i've only seen one of them [which I killed] since.
Not seen much rutting activity yet, only chase I've seen was one morning last week when I took the pups out for their morning pee lol.
I try not to over hunt my stands and try not to walk around much. Probably only going to hunt one more day between now and opener of rifle.

Its been awful honestly but the last 36 hours the flood gates have opened.. Sunday afternoon was one of the most deer I have ever seen.

I worked at AEDC for 10 years before changing jobs…. Used to hunt inside the fence and the on the rifle range during the Thanksgiving and Christmas shutdowns… used to be some real good deer out there.

Well you guys responses make me feel a little better… maybe it will pick up some this week with the colder weather. The other ripple in my pond comes from some of the landowners inlaw family coming to target practice on Saturdays… more this year than compared to last year. I don't want to complain too much, least I have a place to hunt, pretty much run of the ~50 acres.
