Little Ones First Rifle.

My girls have all killed deer with their mothers savage model 10 in .243. I bought my oldest a browning a bolt micro hunter in 243 for her 10th birthday.

My daughter 25 and still hunting with her .243 single shot youth. Me and a couple more in the family have killed with it. Its a sweet shooting little gun.

I started my son out with a CVA Scout chambered in .243. I threaded the barrel and hung a .30 cal can off the end. It's small, compact and enjoyable enough that I still carry it to the woods sometimes during deer season.

Remington Model 7 youth in .260.
If I had it to do over it would have been the encore in .308. It kicked alot less.
That little .260 kicked like a mule. LOL
He got used to it though.
He is all growed up now and shoots a .300 win mag just like daddy. :D
Rem model 7 260, not the youth model, but they are no longer available, but he still hunts with it till this day.

My youngin totes a cva youth single shot 243. Great simple safe ambidextrous little rifle. He's takin several deer with it. I would suggest thinking about a 7mm08 instead of 243 whichever rifle you choose. Similar recoil and you get a 30 cal bullet with 7mm08. Bigger hole = better blood trails if they don't make the best shot.

Model 7 youth 243 with 90gr accubonds. She has taken several deer and none went more than a few feet. Electronic hearing protections is great and allowed me to coach her through the shot.

Close, you actually get a .284 cal bullet. the 308 has the 30 cal bullet.

A 7mm/08 is a 308 case necked down to accept a 7mm bullet which is .284 diameter.

Started my boy out with an AR in 6.8SPC. The 6 position stock allowed it to grow with him until he could handle a full sized bolt gun.
That's exactly what I did it worked great. I eventually got him a Browning Micro Midas .308. I loaded some light 110 grain Barnes rounds that had very light recoil. The worst thing you can do is put them on too much gun too soon.
