Loaded muzzleloader

Until I shoot it again.

Seriously, if I was using a BP sub I'd leave till after season unless I shot it. I wouldn't leave one loaded for extended periods of time

I've left mine loaded and used it the next year before and it's never hurt it. But anymore I always pull the breach out and unload it at the end of season.
I did that one year on accident but usually unload it at the end of muzzleloader season. The past 2 years have been easy as I've killed a buck, cleaned the gun the next day and put it back in the safe. Makes it easy. All you have to do is find a willing buck to participate. 🤣

I'll be unloading, and reloading mine after every hunt from now on. (Since I had a mis-fire on that huge buck 2 years ago, ill be much more particular.)

Usually the week of Thanksgiving I'll get it unloaded and cleaned. If I hunt in the rain I will. Unload and reload again. Missed up on a big deer the morning after I hunted in the rain several years ago.

When we had two separate segments for muzzleloader, I would usually leave it loaded until the second segment ended, unless it got wet or some other circumstance that I felt I needed to unload it.

I usually push the bullet out after the season but have known people that have kept them loaded until next year with no problem . Only misfire I've had wasn't actually a misfire . Was hunting in the rain in Giles Co one year and slipped up on a doe , shot it no problem . Went to Lincoln Co that evening and slipped on several deer with a decent buck chasing does in a small field. Got a chance at him and the gun misfired . Put in another cap got another shot at him same thing so I just left . Come to find out the old cap had lodged in the bolt and wouldn't let the bolt hit the cap hard enough . Took the old cap out gun fired ! Learned a lesson there so after a shot I always make sure the bolt is clear.

Never I load it in the morning and unload it after the evening hunt every time I went to laurelhill wma years ago and left mine loaded from that Sunday til the next Saturday and I missed a pretty good buck because it wouldn't go off had to poor alittle powder in the nipple then put the number 11 cap on and it had a heck of a delay when it did go off.

Piece of electrical tape over the muzzle goes along way keeping moisture out. With primer in breech, sabot & tape there's really no way for moisture to get in. Have left mine that way for a long time after hunting rain. Generally unload in January when cleaning all guns post season.

I've left them loaded on a clean barrel from one year to the next a few times, and each time at the range before season, they fired perfectly. Usually, I'll load and not unload til season is over unless I get lucky and get a shot.

But, if it's been a very humid or damp day, I'll unload and clean it before reloading.

CVA Wolf with Bh209, it's been 2 years since i shot it & it's still loaded. The time before that was 3 years & it went off exactly as you'd want it to.

My .54 longrifle has had the same load of FFg Goex in it for 4 years & I'm 100% confident it'll be perfect. I'm honestly more worried about the grease on the patch having dried out!
