Probably the nicest weather of the week. Started out frosty and warmed up to the mid 70s with bluebird skies. A little windy in the afternoon but tolerable.

I hunted from 9:30am till sunset and did not hear one single gobble. I did call in one hen that answered me, I bumped a few hens and I bumped two longbeards while walking down logging roads.

Anyone else hunt today and even hear a bird?

Same here brother. Bumped 3 but one was the same bird, he came back and was in an oak the second time....hope we meet again in the morning.

I needed one to take 10 more steps after gobbling all the way as he crossed a clear cut. He was the only one I heard but I had to leave early.

It was a perfect morning.

0fer yesterday and so far 0fer today. But I'm relating it to not many turkeys to gobble in the first place.

Heard two on roost. Silent after fly down. Stayed in the area and then one had a gobbling fit around 7:00. Probably gobbled 60 x in a 20 min span. I finally got in striking distance and he answered a couple of times but then went silent. I stayed an hr and nothing. Figured he gobbled up a hen. Buddy been on birds all morning. Missed early just killed.

Same story different area today. Still got 4 1/2 hours of the day left, but it's real real quiet when the wind isn't blowing.

thanks mega, hope to hear something this evening, been to several spots and still haven't heard one.

This is the only thing I managed to get in range so far...he wanted to ride in the truck with me

Didn't hear any turkeys for the second day in a row, crows finally broke loose today and the song birds were very noisy. Two hens did drag one by me and he wouldn't even spit or drum, at least for the 30secs while he was in range. So I let the Franken Stick bark at 10am.

I been huntin them 25 years. Still toughest of my life.
I thought this cold spring and late green up would really benefit you and me. I really can't complain. I've had a hot bird on almost every hunt. But only one. Coyotes, property lines, and sending my boy to the hot bird twice has kept me from closing the deal. Hopefully tomorrow will turn out better. I'm at camp and headed to bed now.
