I have been out and about a ton in the last two weeks all over this side of the state, and I have never seen so many hens with poults anywhere. In addition, the clutches are large right now, with most averaging around 10 poults per hen.

Really good news, and barring any freakish weather this should be an amazing hatch this year.

This is awesome news. I can only hope your sightings are indicative of the entire state. Regardless, this is great to hear, thanks for sharing.

Yea! Im really excited maybe this will get some of the drout counties back on the right track. Ive seen 9 hens with one hen and 10 with 3 hens i know there were 7 or8 hens on our place maybe they all hatched good. And i hope theyall raise ten apiece lol a

This is certainly the case in our area; hens and little ones EVERYWHERE! I honestly can't remember a time I've seen so many.

Walked down the driveway to get the paper this morning and saw 2 hens cross the road with no little ones. A little later while sitting on the patio reading the paper and drinking coffee I hear a hen raising cane. Looked up and saw the neighbor's dogs chasing it. It finally flew across behind my house and landed on the property next to me. About 30 minutes later she was walking back toward where she flew from so I took off to see if I could see her get on a nest. She messed around there clucking and purring for a good 10 minutes and walked within 15' of me twice. I had a black pair of shorts on and that was it and she didn't pay much attention. She finally flew up in a tree and I watched for probably 20 more minutes thinking she'd fly down and go get on some eggs but I finally gave up and walked back with her still in the tree. There's usually a hen in that area every year with a nest so I'm assuming she's sitting on eggs still.

I haven't seen the birds where I hunt, but a hen was in the backyard this afternoon with no poults. There was a gobbler behind our house on many occasions this spring, but somehow I guess she didn't get bred.

I'm a little troubled with the amount of poults I have seen so far. The biggest cluth I've seen thus far is 4 poults- and that was with a group of 3 hens.

i kould be wrong...but i think the recent boom in chicken farms around us have hurt our turkey population more than the weather ever kould...atleast south of 64 :(
