I tried something new this year and I am pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
The day before the rain from Helene came through NE middle TN I decided to broadcast some seed in a small area where our cattle bed through the summer. It's a patch of locust trees that offer good shade on top of the ridge. It was essentially bare ground of mud and cow manure with some leaf cover.
I did nothing but throw out some seed with some great rain timing. I also grabbed a bag of food plot seed from TSC a few weeks later and cast on top to fill in gaps.
Right now it's looking really good and I have been getting lots of pics of bucks and does feeding. Several mature bucks in daylight as well which is cool.
