Mid Tenn Rimfire Shooters March .22 LR Rimfire match

I sure did. Learned a lot watching everyone and certainly learned I need wind practice šŸ˜œ. I'm going to start going up there and practicing and see if that helps. I have never seen wind deflection on a bullet like I experienced today.

From what I've seen, the guys who consistently win and place high are the best in the wind. Having great equipment helps but if you can't make wind calls it's moot.

Consistently scoring high with 22's at 50yds is harder and more frustrating than the long range shooting I've done with centerfire on steel.

It sure is addictive though, lol.

I didn't realize how bad the wind pushes.22s around. I am going to work on wind calling for sure. What do you recommend besides just shooting in the wind?

I've read several places a 3mph wind move a 22lr subsonic 3/8" at 50yds. When your bullseye is .128" and an IBS dot is about 1/2 that size wind calls matter.

The only way to learn wind is shoot in it. There is a guy that used to shoot in our matches that only shot on calm days for practice and he got massacred on match day because conditions are never perfect.

I definitely learned that lesson. My first sighter was 1.25 high and 1.25 left. I knew I was in trouble at that point šŸ˜‚

Any idea on what the actual wind speed/gusts were? I'm down here cyphering on my Kent.......er......Alabama windage fer the next giddy up šŸ˜†

Gonna have some daylight in the evenings to practice a little IF I have any energy left that that point to make it happen.

I'm estimating the gusts to have been around 20mph. AccuWeather was predicting 20-22 mph but no idea on the actual speed.
