Most shots heard in one day??

Never actually counted them, but back in the day when Chuck Swan had a super high deer density, it was unbelievable! The first morning of the first gun hunt sounded like a foreign invasion was being repelled back in the Chapel! šŸ˜‚ It was actually a little dangerous at times. Those were the good old days.
Back in those days everyone went to the swan to hunt. It was one of the only places around here that had an over abundance of deer.

Ooening day of rifle 2020, still cant explain it. Hunted here at the home farm. Very protected access land. My nephew leases or own the 700 acres to my east. Neighbors father owns a 1000 to my east. Some opening days i havent heard a shot all opening weekend. Probably heard 30 close shots. Little piece across from me had just sold to a guy from mboro. He only bowhunted. It was his first (and only ) time he ever hunted it. He text and asked me if this was nornal. I told him no. I text my nephew. He was hunting opposite side of county. It was sunny and very warm. I saw 4 deer. The guy who bowhunted never came back- i bought the farm from him 3 months later. He actually never came back after that day- left the stands too.

To this day i have no idea where all the shots came from.

I don't hear near as many as I used to. 2006-2007 probably 30 shots where I used to hunt in Difficult.

There are bigger deer there now, but back then you might see 30 or more in a day. It was like Christmas when that successful draw came in the mail. We really didn't have a lot of other places to hunt either. I was a kid and we had moved here from KY and didn't know a lot of the public land. Always packed a pocket full of shells! šŸ˜

I had one that was skinned to pieces from climbing, but they cut it down as well as the whole block of woods. I had a lot of fun in that tree.
