Moultrie M80 black flash or Homebrew ?

Reliability and continued years of service to you will be in favor of the homebrew every time when compared with 98% of commercial cams. What is your intended purposed of this camera? Will it monitor trails and edges where a fast shutter is needed to reduce blur and such or will it primarily monitor salt and scrapes where the deer are stationary for the most part? I have two sets of cameras; one set is my homebrew white flash that I use to monitor trails and deer while they are on the move, and the second set is my IR and black flash cams that I use for salt and scrapes, mainly capturing deer while they are stationary. These are two totally different camera sets that serve two total different purposes for me. If you know how the camera will be used the majority of the time in the field, it will help you narrow down your choices and pick the better camera for your unique situation. Hope this helps.

x2 Exactly why every camera I own now is a homebrew!
