Which do you prefer? Living here on the plateu I have the choice. But honestly I cant choose. I love setting directly under a gobbling mountain bird and calling him right over the rise. But on the other hand some of those flatland birds come charging to the call on a suicide march. If you had the choice to hunt mountains or flatlands loaded with gobbling birds which would you pick and why?

Which ever one wants to die first.
I am a mtn hunter always have been. I have killed birds on flatland too but to me I feel like I have earned that mtn bird.

I'm from West TN and hunted here all my life. Lived in Knoxville for 5 years so I've hunted both. &$*! those hills! Give me the bottomland and I'll be happy.

Well the flatland birds Ive hunted here have been so easy to kill that I personally have no challenge with it. SO I will take the mountains, but it is nice to have the chance to hit a flatland bird every now and then for a easy kill.

Flat is my only choice except for some tall ridges, but no mountains, I would gladly take either though

The mountain birds are tougher....you have an advantage as far as getting uphill of them, and natural passes funnel the birds BUT besides the terrain being tougher, a bird may be gobbling within 100 yards of you, but on a true mountain, there is no way to get to him, because the grand canyon is between you and him.

They are only easy if you have lots of private land that holds birds and are easily viewed and patterned. Come hunt some public land out west for some gobblers and youll see its not so easy. A bird that hasnt been called to will probably come in certain cases, but these public land birds have heard a lot of calling and are just not the same.
Thats what I was thinking. The mountain I hunt is private land and the birds are easier to fool than the flatland wma birds I routinely hunt. But I love both types of hunting. Its fun to kill a gobbler other people are hunting :D

LOL a good half my birds are off public land. And no place I hunt has birds that are easily viewed. I just dont see turkeys as a big challenge, not like a mature buck anyway.

I grew up hunting the ultra flats lands of Miss and AL. AFter moving here I have now tasted plenty of rolling hills hunting, to sure nuff mountains.

I prefer mountain hunting by far. Something about is cooler, and it is much more physically challenging then flat land hunting. I actually think birds in hilly steep terrain are harder to kill then flat land birds however.

I also live on the plateau and have the privledge of hunting both. I prefer the mtn birds but i do hunt both. They both have pros and cons. The mtn birds seem to be easier to locate because of the terrain. But hunting the flatlanders are a lot easier walking.

Hunting turkeys in hills and hollows always seemed eaiser to me because you could hide and kill them close. Catoosa on the Bi-color side is really a good place to do that type of hunting. Have never really had the chance to hunt flat land.
