@mayberryrick I found a piece of heavy duty line I think it's probably 100 lb mono I'm going to attach a swivel to it

Just attach it straight to the braid. It will be fine.

My only concern is that the hooks are weak from age and rust

I made a leader for it LOL not taking any chances the braid is kind of thin with the breeze it tangles up around the bait
