I'm pretty excited about my new scope coming in from Black Gold for my Ascent. It's going to be a 3 pin configuration .019 green, .019 red, .010 green.

I've been shooting a single pin slider for hunting for a couple years now. I really like it except for those shots right at 40 yards.

I was thinking of setting my new pins up at 25, 40 and 55. The bottom pin would be my floater to shoot long distance for fun. The top two pins would always be set at 25,40 when the slider is all the way at the top.

I think this set up would be the best of both worlds. Fixed pin for hunting but a slider off the bottom pin for off season shooting.

Sounds like a good set up UTGRAD.

I tried an HHA slider this year.No problem with the slider Just never got comfortable in the tree with it.After many years with 3-5 pins just cannt get used to it.Was always afraid of a longer shot and not knowing weather to hold over or adjust the slider.

Will look at the Black Gold and also CBE TEK HYBRID.
Like the price on the Black Gold alot.

I have used multi-pins for many years and after so much scoped, single pin shooting the last couple of years this past season was rough mentally adjusting to the multi-pins. This coming deer season I will have a single pin slider and we'll see how it goes. I primarily hunt thickets during bow season any way so it shouldn't be a problem.

That's a good deal. I elected to simply swap scopes on my current Black Gold base vs getting a whole new sight.

Crow have you ever looked at Black Gold sights?

I purchased the ascent before this past hunting season. I love mine! I have 4 pins on it. Lifetime guarantee from Black/Gold.

Let me tell you I've used their warranty and it is the best. On my first bow I over torqued a screw and the base cracked. Totally stupid mistake on my part. Called them up and they sent me a new base no questions asked. I just sent a scope back to them to get upgrades and they covered most of it under "warranty" although it was upgrade modifications.

UT -- Yeah, the day I bought my first Tek Hybrid, I went in to buy the a Black Gold Ascent. After looking at them and holding them side by side, I chose the Tek Hybrid. The movement seemed smoother to me and the Ascent seemed a great deal heavier to me. I don't know what the actual weights are on these sights, but holding them in my hands, the MBG felt a lot heavier.

Also check out in the bottom pic where the needle starts on my sight tape. It's going to start at 55 yards for my bottom pin as the floater. I'm going to make a new tape that goes out to 120 yards for fun shooting.

Might just do that. Gonna find me a 3D bow to put it on first. Don't want to wear and tear on my hunting bow.

I got to slip out of the house for a bit and roughly configure my multi pin slider. The wind was awful. I wanted to do 25,40,55 on the pins but the bottom pin was getting close to the level so I stopped at 50 yards. So now I have a 25,40, 50 yard sight with the ability to slide the 50 pin out to at least 100 yards. I'm going to test this evening how low I can slide the sight down before the Fletching hits the scope.

So I tested scope/Fletching clearance by shooting at my Rhinoblock from 5 ft. I smeared foot powder on the top Fletching and confirmed I have clearance out to 120. I could probably stretch it to 125-130 but that's beyond max on my tape. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this multi pin slider.

Starting point. The slider is all the way up. I flipped the indicator needle upside down and set it at 50 (bottom pin)

Maxed out at 120 yards. The bottom pin that is my "floater" is green .010.

Here's the pins through the scope. Now I've got a two pins 25,40 that will serve for virtually all hunting situations. I've got a 50 yard floater pin for fun.

If it were me I would print the tape and have my indicator touching the actual yardage line.

A 15 yard pin gap? Really? Have you thought this one over thoroughly? Remember in the 3D game the 10 ring is 5" and the 12 ring is 1.5" on average.

A pin gap of 15 yards is huge liability in the game of 3D and I think it would invite some real problems. As an example targets in the 35-40 yard range give me the hardest time judging accurately. A lot of folks shooting Hunter Class set their pins up at 23, 28, 33, 38 and with a max no greater than 40 yds they shoot it really good!

You need to be a human rangefinder if you are going to use a a 15 yd pin gap on a 3D Course. Also I would highly suggest you pack an advanced first aid kit with you to tend to the wounds you are going to receive from the azz whoopin' put on you! Even shooting
known yardage with 15 yard pin gap, you better hope you're first aid kit has life support cause you're gonna need it!
