I'm looking forward to my first spring hunt. Got a chance a few weeks ago to shoot my gun. I think I'll be hunting with Rem Nitros #4 and/or Win Supremes #5. The results are below:

Gun: Mossberg 935 26" Barrel
Choke: Kick's Gob Thunder .680
Distance: 45-50 yards

Winchester Supreme 3.5" 2oz #6

I would try something else IMO, not trying to step on toes but you should have more shot in the head and neck area with any of those shells at that distance which this is coming from a guy that missed one 3 times last season but I wouldnt be satisfied but good luck to ya!

I tried a hevi 13 number six shot yesterday. At 40 yds I got 37 hits in the kill zone, and 138 in a 10 inch circle. I was useing a mad max.665 choke, 870 super mag.

Probably has a lot to do with the shooter. I grew hunting small game with a .22 and progressed to larger caliber rifles with large game. I've never been much of shotgun shooter. In fact this is the very 1st shotgun I've soley purchased and owned myself.

I experimented with a scope on my shotgun but the scope malfunctioned. I'm considering buying another scope but will probably settle with better sights. Right now my gun only has the front bead sight.

Here is my pattern from last year using an 870sm with 26" barrel using Kick's GT .665 and Win Sup #5's @ 40 yards:

This is from Sunday shooting my 11-87sm with 23" barrel using an Indian Creek Black Diamond choke and Hevi-13 Mag Blend @ 40 yards..... 239 pellets in a 10" circle:

Wow! I obviously have major issues with my setup.

Besides working on my sights, got any other suggestions?
Another choke? Different ammo? GunBroker.com?

Glad I posted on the board before I got into the woods.

Move in to 20 yards and shoot some dove load off of a rest and make sure your gun is shooting where your aiming.

Well according to Kick's website, the GT .680 is best used with 3" #4 shot or 3.5" #5 shot.

Try shooting at 40 yards..... trust me, 5-10 yards can make a difference in your pattern..... it can make a great pattern at 40 yards appear to be awful at 45-50 yards.

Next try a different choke, if your on a budget you can find some decent chokes at Wal-Mart at a reasonable price.

Also remember that there is such a thing as over choking a load which will also blow it out.....

I have heard of several people using a choke called Star Dot with their Mossberg and getting great patterns with factory ammo. If you get time, check out OldGobbler.com it's all about turkey hunting and set-ups in the turkey guns section....

Try shooting a big peice of paper like 30" X 30". Looks like your shooting way high, but there is no way of knowing shooting a small paper like that.

Nope one shot. Welcome to the world of nitros!

Where can I find Nitros?

Bow Shack in Counce Tennessee has them.

Yes i am not being rude but those patterns arent great. Good luck with finding the right load. Tru glo chokes work pretty well for an economical choke. But if you want to go all out check nitros with rhino chokes. Awesome to say the least.
