Slipped into the woods this morning in Claiborne County by moonlight. Got in the stand my best friend and I actually hung for my son to hunt out of, but he's getting over pneumonia and couldn't go. Fog rolled in off the river channel and socked me in to about 35-45 yds visibility until 9:35 when it lifted. By 9:40 I started to see deer. From then until 10:00 I saw a total of 9, with this nice buck being the 9th. He was walking a roadbed along the top edge of a steep hollow. I picked a spot at about 80 yds and when he stepped into it I squeezed the trigger. He dropped at the shot. I knew he was wide and pretty tall, but was shocked to see 11 pts with 22+ and 20+ main beams! This is my personal best. I have to give my best friend Drew the assist in helping me fine tune this setup and talk me out of my original tree selection. Raylan was very mature about it for an 8 yr old and was happy to go with me to show him off. Drew scored the deer while his dad graciously listened to my son's hunting stories. I also need to give my buddy Tony a huge shout out for helping me drag him out! He dressed 137lbs and scored 131 1/2". I sure was blessed today!
