This season was good to me. The best part was killing the biggest bird I have ever seen. If I knew then what I know now this would be the heaviest bird ever killed in Lincoln CO and #4 in the state. He weighed 28lbs 4oz on a fishing scale. We later learned that the scale was weighing about 3oz lite. I didn't take it to an official scale because I didn't dream that he was going to score that well. Lesson learned the hard way. You can tell in the pic how big he really was. reflex264

Nice bird for sure. I also hunt Lincoln and there are some stud birds in parts of the county. I do have a question how did you come up with the record on the weight, TWRA does not recognize weight as a means of scoring although they ask for it when checking turkey in it is not a factor in any record keeping by them. I was told by a TWRA GW that reason being, weight can vary greatly due to several factors with one being some people feed them throughout the year causing them to be heavier than birds who feed more naturally. Nice bird either way!

TWRA doesn't keep up with weight records but the NWTF does. Go to their website and check it out. Lots of neat stuff on it.

I am mounting him on one of those artificial breast and head mounts so I can stick him in my office at work.

One thing is for sure. I will never kill another one this big.If I do it will be pure luck.

I expected the meat to be tough but it is one of the better turkeys I have ever killed. He yielded nearly twice as much meat as I am used to from a wild turkey. reflex264
