Got the Houndstooth Ceramic in today. First off the call it sell is super quality top notch for sure. pot is beautiful and the overall appearence is great.

now to whats important....the sound.

i ran it with the striker it came with and overall i am very happy with it. It has a higher pitch much more like glass then slate (which Lyle told me would be the case). Most ceramics i have run are usually a lower more dull tone so I am happy about that because i like a higher pitch call personally.

you can get soft or as loud as you need to and cutting on it is a breeze. id like a bit more rasp to the call but I'm sure i can find a happy medium with some other strikers i have. I did run a few more strikers and found the call doesn't run as well with lighter strikers or soft wood, it seems to do better with heavier woods and heavier strikers. All and All i will for sure keep it for this spring and see how the turkey likes it and would def recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different. I love the surface requires very little conditioning and I won't worry about it getting wet or damp which is nice especially in those early TN mornings when it is ALWAYS wet in the air.

I wish the name of his company wasn't houndstooth. I know they are good calls, but I simply cannot get one because of the name.
Now if they were called toomers corner calls, it'd be different haha
