Good morning, I would appreciate a recommendation on a consulting firm. I have 216 acres in Giles County which is a mix of hardwoods of various ages and two stands of pines w ages of 30 years and 4 years. My ideal goal is to manage for wildlife and a good bit of my area is mature hardwoods and pines which I would love to thin to open the floor up a lot more. If anyone in this general area has someone they have used in the past and would recommend I would appreciate their name. Thank you!

Jonathan Boggs with Arbor Springs Forestry.
Hes in Dickson County but does travel to other counties. He managed our timber project, developed a FSI management plan, food plot recomendations, long and short term goals with a focus on wildlife, worked with us on log loading deck locations which were later cleaned up and converted to food plots. Then he also helped us with the EQIP hack-n-squirt application process and once approved he sub contracted that job out...Jonathan was a pleasure to work with and is still a contact that we reach out too today with question on new projects. And if he cant travel to your location he may be able to make recomendations.

I have clients who have worked with Boggs and were pleased with his work.

No not yet, I am just getting started on this project after purchase last November. Just wanted to see if anyone here had any previous experience with someone that was positive.

Not specific to your area, but the folks NRCS sent out were amazing. The forester they sent did deer management and when he made his recommendations he circulated it with quail unlimited, the folks doing grouse restoration and some other group so their biologists to provide feedback. This is just a small part of what they've done. It's gonna take a couple years to implement everything but I think it's going to be a massive improvement.

I have used Jonathan Boggs myself at my farm in Giles county. My name is Tim Douthit. His phone number is 615-498-8700. I have talked with other foresters in the past but Jon is wonderful. Jon looks out for your interest on your property and is a honest person. You can tell him I gave you his name. Thanks.
